I have just started reading this book. It's a must read book for everyone. One person found this helpful. Kalam's writing is penetrating due to their simplicity and vivid description. The seller sent it all the way from India so it takes time. The book pages reminded me of books sold in India. So worth the wait. Very inspirational. A Book with purpose of making country self relience. Author goes beyond autobiography and give the message to the people of india that india can develope their own indigineous technology.
Author explains the history of Rocket technology in india along with the power of group work in country. Hats off to Bharat Ratna Dr. Avur Pakir Jainallubdin Abdul Kalam for his kind service to contry. He is a person who leads the leader to make a things possible without taking a help from outside contry.
APJ Abdul kalam had specified such small small things in book that not even possible for simple man to remember what happend on so and so date at so and so place , who was doing what on which project??
There are lots and lots of things to write about this book but better to read it and realise it. Great book. Must read one. It is an inspiring story of a person from humble background who not only proved his leadership quality in scientific institution and ultimately climbed to the apex position of the largest democracy of the world i. In spite of his rising status through out his career, he never forgot his root, humbleness and spiritual ethics and young India has many things to learn from his inspirational life.

I was very glad that this book was written by an Indian Arun Tiwari about an Indian whose life journey is so inspiring that it can just turn your life. It shows how a normal young Muslim boy who lived in Rameswharam turned into a famous scientist and then the president of a country like India.
What it includes??? He describes individuals like Prof. Sarabhai and Dr. Brahm Prakash who had a great impact in his personality. He describes the qualities of a leader and how he faced difficulties in becoming one.
Being a 'small-town boy' his journey was not simple and full of people who were always jealous of him. But as the book says he never left hope, courage and faith in God and with his determination and hardwork he was able to achieve what he could never think of. He considered all religions equal and had equal respect for all the religions. He was even the best friend of the son of the head priest of Rameswaram Temple. I loved the ways he keeps on describing his various teachers of life and all the influential people and their qualities.
I would say that you read this book only if you are above 15 years otherwise you will find the language heavy and difficult and you can also struggle to understand the book here and there mainly because of the deep meaning and inspirations. You will love the way he includes short poems everywhere. Also, the book uses a lot of technical and aeronautical words so some people just like me might face issues in understanding them. The book is pages long.
The book according to me is not durable I bought it 6 months back and the pages can easily be torn if not taken care of. In the end I would say that this is a perfect inspirational book for anybody who is interested in aeronautics or just want to achieve greater heights in life. The book is a perfect package and is a must read. So I surely recommend this book. This book is truly worthy of a 5 star review. Firstly, the book talks of a boy born in a family in the town of Rameswaram.
This boy today needs no introduction as he has proved himself as one of the most amazing President India ever had. The book talks about Dr. His journey of many ups and downs and humble beginnings is a gentle reminder to all Indians who blame their life and circumstances and the lack of opportunities it presents. The greatest learning that can be taken from this book is that no matter how humble or privileged your beginnings are, no matter how many times you fail to deliver, with the right spirit and belief in your cause will eventually manifest you the results you desire.
Another thing that this book intensely focusses on are the moral values given to children at a very young age. Children of India will grow to be patriots and secular if right from their childhood they are not taught the divide of culture, religion and caste. Another thing this book focusses on how important mentorship is in one person's success.
APJ Abdul Kalam did become a leading scientist of his time, but he always attributed his success to his mentors and leaders. The technical aspects of the book may be a little tedious for a person from non engineering background. You may get a little lost in a few chapters. Nonetheless, the book still has a lot to offer to its readers. Mechanical Engineers like myself would love the technical aspects of this book.
I would recommend this book to be compulsorily taught to all students in school. This book is also a great read for MBA graduates and leaders. This book has really practical leadership lessons to offer.
